This is the ceiling fan light pull switch that is needed to replace an existing three wire switch. This is referred to as a 3-way fan light switch. This switch has four positions with (1) INPUT (BLACK WIRE) & (2) OUTPUTS (RED WIRE & BLUE WIRE). POSITION(1)-OFF, POS(2)-Black-Red, POS(3)-Black-Blue, POS(4)-Black-Blue-Red. Be careful and make sure to disconnect the input power prior to replacing. Here's a tip: Turn the fan on and then turn the wall switch off, if the fan stops turning then it should be safe to proceed. This assumes there is only one wall switch for the ceiling fan/light fixture. Just reuse the existing wire nuts when replacing. My ceiling fan had a blue wire instead of a black wire as the input. I also used my digital camera and took closeup shots prior to replacing.
