We have Hunter fans in all 5 bedrooms. Had them for years. We were moving a new bed in the master bedroom and hit the fan and broke it. It was installed in 1963 in the kitchen and moved to this bedroom in 1990. It is rarely off...we run it day and night 24-7. You never know it's there.

Hunter Fan 28607 52-Inch Maresia Ceiling Fan, Egyptian Bronze Review

This is the most beautiful fan I have ever seen or owned.We thought however that they would be flush mount due to the picture and other information that we looked into.If you like them with a down rod you will not be disappointed.They are not quite like the picture either.They are brown on the base and blade hangers, not any other color, just to be clear.Several websites have them as silver toned. Hunter Fan 28482 54-Inch Piedmont Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel Review

First let me say that I got this fan for over half off due to the box being damaged.While I love it, I really don't think I could have forked over the full price.With that being said, this is the best fan I have ever owned.I love the top and bottom lights.They operate separately and can be dimmed separately as well.When you turn off the lights, they dim off rather than go off instantly (you can turn them off instantly if you click the button again).It looks sweet.As far as the air...lets just say that on high this fan could be used as a plane propeller.You do not want to get anywhere near the blades when they are on high.Last is the remote.I love the remote.It looks like a phaser from Star Trek.It comes with a mount so you can keep it on your light switch if you like.One other thing, there is no remote hardware to mess with in the fan.It is already part of the fans hardware, so you don't have to fit a receiver box in the canopy like some fans.The only issue I had was that the blades and the wood color on the fan body and blade mounts are significantly different in tone/color.It works but I think it would have looked better if they matched.

Update: As of 5-14-10, the price on this fan has dropped to less than half the price(now around $219) it was when I purchased it.Its a great buy at the current price.

Minka-Aire Fans F601-BS/BN 52" Acero Contemporary Brushed Steel Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Wall Ctrl Review

The style of this fan would be equally at home in a more modern home as it was in our 1927 craftsman bungalow kitchen.The pitch of the blades does a great job circulating air without generating an excessive amount of wind, although be sure to measure the blade length to make sure they don't hit your cabinet doors when open!

DIY-ers beware:The only drawback to this fan is the wiring connection inside the optional light fixture isn't very well designed.The neutral wire is tucked safely behind the bulb socket and away from the incredibly hot halogen bulb.The hot wire, however, hangs close enough to the bulb to melt through the insulation and sever the connection.I wound up having to repair my wire twice, finally resorting to wire-tying it to the neutral, which still remained safely tucked behind the hot part.

Wiring issues aside, we are planning to purchase another of these fans for our new house when we move next month.

Lutron Dimmers MA-LFQHW-WH Maestro Ceiling Fan 1amp Speed and 300watt Light Dimmer, White Review

I bought this product at the local Home Depot store to switch the light and the fan on my bedroom fan. The installation requires to install a canopy module that sits between the switch and the fan itself. The canopy module is zip-tied to the internal fan housing and is out of sight. Relatively speaking, the canopy module installation was pretty straight forward.

When I installed the switch, I though I paid attention to how the previous switch was wired. Unfortunately I had one of the wires reversed. My switch had three black leads attached to it. One of them was power, the other went to the fan and the third continued the circuit to the rest of the room. I accidentally reversed the wiring which left me confused as the fan would be on, with all of the circuits in the room, however the switch did not affect anything on the fan.

I wasn't sure if I did something wrong at the switch end or the canopy module end. I called up Lutron's tech support which is listed in the instructions and on their website. 24/7 tech support was really 24/7 as I was calling at 7pm on a Sunday evening! Amazingly I was talking to someone from the US; I figured that they would definitely offshore a weekend call. This likely speaks to their customer service guarantee. The tech on the phone pointed out that I may have the wires at the switch reversed and suggested that I disconnect it, leave two of the black leads touching, turn on the breaker and see what happens. From there I saw that I wired the room power to the fan, but not to the rest of the room. I made the appropriate fixes to the switch and happily completed the install. Major kudos to the Lutron customer service and tech support.

Lastly, this is a really cool switch, it has a number of different modes for turning the lights and fan on and off, including delayed dimming, fast-on, fast-off and variable speed settings with memory. It is a great product and wouldn't mind installing it in any of my other rooms with fans. It also means that you don't have to use the pull cords on the fans anymore.

Hunter Fan 28121 60-Inch Tribeca Ceiling Fan, Brushed Nickel Review

This is a great looking, quality fan that has a contemporary style without being over the top. With a 3 blade design and compact motor housing, it looks a bit anorexic compared to more traditional fans, but this is not a complaint. Even though it is a large diameter sweep, it does not look overwhelming. The graphite side of the blades is dark and matte (like a chalkboard), while the brushed nickel finishes look much better and brighter in person than in any photo I have seen online- including the dismal picture on this product page.

This particular ASIN (B00083UKUO) includes the light kit. Many other retailers sell it without the kit for about the same price. I'm impressed by the non-fussy appearance, and there is something about the shade of the frosting on the glass globe that compliments the overall contemporary look. There is an option to install the kit without the globe, however this makes the halogen lights very direct and harsh (though it looks cool).

The included remote control, other than being larger than necessary and cheap feel, is full function. You can turn the fan on/off, change speed/direction, and dim the lights.

It comes with a 7" downrod, which will be too short if your ceilings are >9'.

[UPDATE] I said in the review that the light kit is included. It was when I made my purchase, which came from the Amazon *Featured Merchant* Delmar Designs (who delivered quickly in excellent condition). I now see a photo of the remote appears on the product page. This is not the remote that came with my unit and looks better (hopefully!). Also, the instructions really do suck.

Hunter 27218 White Energy Efficient Low Profile Light Kit Review

Despite the sketchy instructions, the light kit was easy to install on a Hunter fan that I purchased locally.My guess is that people with little experience with wiring and light fixture installation may need some help from someone who is handy.When I installed the fan I did end up calling Hunter's help line with a wiring question.I was on hold for a long time, but when I did get through, the agent was helpful and knowledgeable. Don't forget that there is a pull-chain switch on the fan itself.I turned on the light at the wall switch, and for a few minutes could not figure out why it didn't work.

Westinghouse 7787000 Ceiling Fan and Light Remote Control Review

Westinghouse has made a great little remote here that works as promised. However the description on their own web site neglects to mention the need to install an electronic module inside the fan. They also don't state which fan models (In their own Line) this module will not fit. We bought a Ceiling hugger model and there was no room indide the fan for the module, it had to be located in the junction box above the fan.So while the fan control works great and as described there might be a bit of work involved wiring and installing the communications module.

Hunter 22462 Beachcomber 52-Inch Five White Beadboard/White Plastic-Blades-Ceiling Fan, White Review

Not hard to install, but when done noticed that too much of the light fixture was sticking out above the glass globe. This is very unattractive. Bought 2 of them, am returning one. Will try to make the threaded pipe shorter so that the glass globe will fit closer to the motor and cover where the chain comes out. I have several Hunter fans and this is the first bad experience.
Also, description does NOT state that the 60 watt bulbs are candelabra bases.

Emerson Fans CF955WW 54" Midway Eco Contemporary Appliance White Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Remote Review

This fan is very energy efficient and moves lots and lots of air.On High it only takes 24 watts and less than 5 watts on low.It is built with a newly designed DC motor using permanent magnets to accomplish this level of efficiency and it has 6 speeds.
It is easy for one person to install as it allows you to hang the fan and THEN wire it in.You don't have to have another person hold the fan while you wire it in like some fans do.The instructions were mostly easy to understand but a tad confusing as to which side of the blades were supposed to face the ceiling.It has a tag on each blade "This side up", but you install the blades when the fan motor is upside down sitting on the floor.I installed them wrong after I realized that it circulated air upward amazingly well, but didn't blow down.I removed the blades reversed them and all was fine.It would have been clearer if the tag on each blade had said "This side towards Ceiling" as that would have removed any doubt as to their orientation while assembling.
It is almost inaudible on the first two speeds and on the higher speeds you can hear the movement of air but never the motor.I did not experience any "buzzing" of the lights when turned on like some others report.The only small downside is that you cannot dim the lights as it uses 4 Compact Florescent with a color temperature of 2700K to mimic the color of incandescent lights.They are either on or off.Remote works fine, but uses one of those 12v garage door opener batteries rather than easily attainable AAA.It doesn't wobble one bit.
If you run a fan all the time for air circulation this fan certainly is one of the most economical and quietest fans you can run.Paid $419 on Amazon and it was $700 at a local lighting store.I considered Casablanca, but went with this one because of the low energy use.
It is a really well built fan but I gave it a four because the lights can't be dimmed, installation of the blades could have been clearer, and the remote doesn't use a common size battery.

I cannot recommend this product.One week after installation, it's a nightmare.The fan is constantly turning itself up to high speed and turns the lights on anytime it feels like including in the middle of the night (it's in my bedroom).Everyday I turn it off before leaving for work and come home to a fan on high speed with very bright lights.According to Hunter, the remote control is very sensitive to other electronic devices, I not sure I buy that excuse but that's their story and they are sticking to it.Unfortunately you cannot disconnect the remote system because it is built into this fan. The fan is quiet and I really like it otherwise but I prefer my fans to not have a mind of their own.Do a search on other consumer review website and you will find this is a problem for a lot of people who have Hunter remotes.If you really want to give a remote control Hunter fan a try, I recommend buying a model that does not have the remote built it.Buy the remote separately and install it.Then if you incur problems at least you can disconnect it.I wish I had read the reviews on Hunter remotes before purchasing this fan.It's about to have a one week lifespan in my house.For the record, I also have a Casablanca fan with a built in remote and I have had no issues with that one.

I am very disappointed in the product and myself for not doing more thorough research.

Hunter 21894 52-Inch Westover Heater Fan Review

Installed this fan in a smallish home office as a replacement for an old standard fan. Installing was easy and straight forward. The unit has a small fan for the heater that sounds like small jet engine. Not only is it annoyingly loud but wholly inefficient. I would never recommend this for heating a room, or even supplemental heat. Save your money and buy a nice fan instead.

Hunter Fan 22289 42-Inch Classic Original Ceiling Fan, New Bronze Review

It took an electrican 3 to 4 hours simply to replace one Hunter ceiling fan with another.The attaching mechanism was difficult, the shrould was split in two parts.The electrician ended up stripping the screws which tighten the shrould, replaced them with self threading screws, and eventually ended up buying a new shrould from Hunter and installing it with a hand held, not electric, screwdriver.In addition, the shrould would not house the Hunter remote control electronics.This mismatch was not advertised on the pages describing the fan or remote.All in all after installation was complete, we had to bring the electrican back to install a cut off switch for the fan remote electronics, since the fan would go on without us being in the house. This cost us about twice the cost of the fan.The fan is quiet, the remote turns it on andoff , but the overall cost and issues with use are for the birds.

Hunter Fans 28035 44" Auberville Fan Brushed Nickel Small Ceiling Fan w/ Light Review

All the Hunter fans I've purchased so far have this rather annoying mounting system where a large plate is screwed over the ceiling box and you hang the fan from it while doing the wiring. (As opposed to the J-hook design of other, usually cheaper fans.)

Normally this is just a giant pain, because one person has to swing the fan out of your way while working on the wiring. I recently moved into a place that has a "saddle box" in the ceiling. This means there is a joist running through the inside of the box - there is very little room for the wires inside. Unfortunately, the mounting plate, when attached, completely covers the box except for a small hole in the center... directly where the joist is. Though it is possible to squeeze the wires out of the hole, it is not possible to push the completed wiring back into the box.

I've always forgiven Hunter for this crappy design because it's been just one extreme inconvenience up front (stuffing the stiff wires back through the tiny hole) and then you can enjoy your beautiful fan. This time, my luck ran out. I either have to get a cheap fan with a J-hook design or live with the plastic cap on my ceiling.

Really nice product, has a hook to help hold it when installing which was handy for a one person installation. Wiring not too complicated. Since it has a remote, you have to use a single switch, rather than double as many houses today are wired. Looks as good as the picture. The only small negative is the 100 w halogen candelabra bulb limit the output to ( you must pay $$ for a special order of the higher wattage bulb and no CFCs are available at that level of light output for candleabra). So, this fan needs to be in a relatively smaller room. Remote is simple and easy to use

Minka-Aire Fans F516-BN 44" Concept I Contemporary Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Remote Review

The best feature about this fan is its looks. It is minimalistic with a clean, stylish, sleek, and modern design. It also has a relatively small footprint. The 100W mini bulb produces adequate light for my 12" by 12" size bedroom. Unlike other fans that require the blades to be screwed on the base unit containing the motor, this fan allows for the blades to just slide into the base unit and lock into place - a great feature that cuts assembly time. Even on its highest setting, the amount of airflow (air displaced) is not that impressive and hence I strongly recommend that one go with the 52" inch version of this fan that costs only slightly more than the cost of this 44" model. This fan comes with a 3.5" & 6" down-rod but for my 9" ceiling, I would have preferred if the fan also came with an additional 9" or 12" down-rod. The remote is stylish and works flawlessly but I wish there was more space to snug in the remote-receiver in the fan (it is quite a hassle to try to squeeze the remote-receiver in the tight space). The fan has a slight premium in its price to essentially reflect the quality, good looks, and the fact that you get a fan with an integrated lighting in one unit.......with the convenience of the fan and the light being independently controlled by a remote. Bottom-line: If you like the looks of this fan go with the slightly larger 52" version of it as it provides more airflow at only a minimal extra cost.

This is simply the nicest fan I have ever seen. We wanted something unique for our master bedroom after we raised our ceiling and this put the final touches on our remodel project. A month later, I raised the ceiling in my mother's master bedroom and she bought the same fan and loves it as much as we do. With the amber cover, don't expect a lot of light output with this fan. It is not our primary source of light in that room so it isn't an issue for us. With Hunter fans, you can always count on them being as quiet and reliable as any on the market. Highly recommended.

I purchased the Harbor Breeze branded remote from Lowes (same exact product).It seems that Litex makes Habor Breeze products for this Lowes only brand.

Two items come in the package; the in-wall mounted remote and the internal module which attaches to 2 or 3 wires to the ceiling fan (and stays inside the fan's base).

The wall remote is excellent quality.3 gray buttons for fan speed, 1 light green glow in the dark round button for turning on/off the fan lights (note: hold round button for dimming), and 1 on\off switch which acts as a master power switch.A small round indicator light (red) illuminates when any of the 4 buttons are pressed.

The fan looks OK, BUT the installation directions were incomplete.Several steps were omitted which caused confusion.On the Amazon site for this fan, under "Technical Details", it states that this fan uses three 60 watt bulbs.But in the owners manual it states that you are not to exceed 40 watt bulbs.We're not happy with the lower amount of light it gives off.Wish we had known this before we purchased it.

Hunter Fan 23921 54-Inch St. Moritz Ceiling Fan with Teak Blades, Weathered Bronze Review

A very pleasant looking and well-functioning fan. Runs smoothly on all settings and the light with 2-60 watt bulbs and standard bases is a definite plus. Only thing is: Why would the fan gods allow such cheap bead pulls for the switches? The joiners are plastic and are hardly adequate. Oh well, kept them from getting 5 stars. Always room for improvement

Hunter Fan 23723 52-Inch Five Minute Ceiling Fan, New Bronze Review

First time installing my own ceiling fan, so I had hoped that a product called 5-minute fan would be an easy first attempt.I bought two fans for two different rooms with angled ceilings.It took me 1 hour for the first fan, and 20 minutes for the 2nd fan.I was very happy with the product in regards to cost, ease of installation, and well written instructions.I had chosen the brand hunter as a recommendation from a friend that used to own a ceiling fan store.When I told him I got the 5-minute brand, he gave me a big thumbs up on my decision.the blades are dual sided with a dark brown and light brown side which I thought was a nice touch.Very elegant design, and I am very happy with the results.Only negative thing I have is that in each of the box one of the bulbs were broken.The manufacture does offer to send a free one, but I just found it easier to go to the store and pick a couple up.

Casablanca Fans C30G45H 52" Isotope Contemporary Flush Mount Nickel Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Remote Review

Came from Del Mar very quick. A+ for that. I installed it myself (first time fan installer). However, after following the direction to the T, it didn't work. Luckily, Casablanca has the best warranty in the business--according to the tech referred to by Casablanca because of the 120 in-home service and lifetime motor. So after paying $85 to have them troubleshoot my mistake, it worked right away and was even more pleased that it wasn't just a ceiling ornament after all.The tech mentioned that I must have paid a fortune for the fan because at the local retailers, it goes for about 500-600 BUCKS! WOW! Fast forward to night-- I turned the light on and was wondering why the light was so dim and was worried because I thought I may had burned something having installed it wrong.Thats when my one year old son picks up the remote and starts playing with the buttons and I see the light get brighter and was like, WTH?!? So it took him and a tech to get this great fan working, but I end up looking like an ID-10-T in the process.

Hunter 20400 The Bayport 42-Inch Four-Rosewood/Medium Oak-Blades-Ceiling Fan, Antique Brass Review

This was a replacement fan in an RV. Compared to the original, this fan is much more stout, quieter, and moves more air. Instructions were easy to follow, and allowed for three mounting options; tight to ceiling, straight hang, hang from an angled ceiling. A minor problem, that didn't prevent completion of the installation, was that one of the holes in the switch housing was punched incorrectly causing it to sit at an angle. A phone call to Hunter had a new housing on its way, no hassles. While the fan is easy to install for the average do-it-yourselfer, it does require some knowledge of electrical wiring, and some ladder time, thus it may not be a job that everyone would want to tackle.

Hunter 20540 Summer Breeze Plus 3-Light 52-Inch 5-Blade Ceiling Fan, Antique Brass with Clear Globes and Rosewood/Medium Oak Blades Review

I shopped around quite a bit for a ceiling fan that would look nice in the living room but not break the bank, and after looking in stores and on line, I settled on this Hunter model.The price is right and it looked great in the pictures.Plus, Hunter has a great reputation.

I was not disappointed, for the most part.The fan has gorgeous, gleaming brass, with good clear instructions for assembly and mounting.The main problem was that it takes candelabra bulbs rather than standard 60 watt bulbs.The Amazon blurb suggested standard 60 watt but in the box was a note explaining that the specification for light bulbs had changed.

I decided we could live with candelabra bulbs; they look OK and they're not overly expensive at the local box store.However, they are still a specialty bulb that does cost more than regular ones.

I also picked up a Hampton Bay remote control, which works well with Hunter fans and costs about $10 less than an equivalent Hunter remote.I have also found Hampton Bay remotes to be more logically designed than the Hunters.You just need to decide to use a remote prior to actually installing the fan, because you will not enjoy opening the fan later on to splice in the remote receiver.

Hunter Ceiling Fans 21647 Caribbean Breeze Fan - Weathered Bronze Indoor Fan 54" Review

Much cheaper than other places (like Home Depot for instance), we ordered two of these for our dining room and adjoining TV room. I thought about installing them myself, but then decided better not to since in the dining room it was replacing a chandelier and I wanted to make sure the fixture would support it. Good thing - the electrician said this fan had more pieces than he'd seen in a long time, and were no simple matter to install. Now they give a perfect atmosphere change to the rooms, both in the patterns of the light and the soft whirring sounds at high speed that sound almost like wind through the palms. We are extremely happy with this purchase! If that should change down the road, I'll update this review, but on initial customer satisfaction, I give them top marks.

Hunter 27187 3-Speed Fan & Light Dimming Remote (for Hunter Originals Series only) Review

This worked perfectly for an existing Hunter fan that I had.The remote had failed on it, so this was the only way I knew to replace it.This replacement remote came with an attachment to retrofit existing non-remote Hunter fans.When I opened the box, I cringed, hoping I wouldn't need it.In side the replacement remote there was a simple switch used to code the remote to the fan's control unit. It is similar to some cheap garage door openers.I played with the coding switch and quickly stumbled across the code to my present fan.I put all the rest of the equipment that came with the remote back in the box and into storage.I don't care for how this replacement remote sits on the room's light switch as it is easy to knock off, but I guess I shouldn't complain as it does work.

Hunter Ceiling Fans 28461 5 Minute Fan Antique Pewter Builder Indoor Fan 52" Blade Span Review

This was very easy to install (my second ceiling fan) if you are replacing an existing fan. It took me more like 30 minutes though (not 5), but I double-check everything I do. The motor is a little louder than I would like but for the price you can't beat it. No wobbling or strange movements whatsoever.

Edited 6/02/10: Motor loudness was cured shortly after I wrote first review...not related to fan and problem soft. Fan is so quiet now so I changed my rating to 5 stars.

Hunter Fans 28037 44" Auberville Fan New Bronze Small Ceiling Fan w/ Light Review
